The protagonist of a crazy police chase around the King of Prussia shopping center in Upper Merion, Montgomery County, on Sunday afternoon he was shot by uniformed officers in the middle of a confrontation.

The incident was reported to have taken place in front of the Seasons 52 restaurant located on the property of the shopping complex.

The situation developed from 2:30 pm on the Green Deck of the multi-story parking lot where an officer on a bicycle noticed the vehicle they were looking for after an apparent hit-and-run accident. The subject attempted to flee in a hurry down Mall Boulevard near North Gulph when he crashed after fleeing authorities in a red Nissan Juke.

Investigators said the suspect proceeded to get out of the car, in an attempt to continue fleeing on foot, when the shooting occurred. According to the Police, the individual approached the officers armed with a 9 mm pistol.

Immediately afterwards, the officers opened fire, hitting him on at least two occasions. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No police officers were injured in this investigation.

“The response from these officers in this case was heroic,” Upper Merion Township Police Chief Thomas Nolan said. “It is a miracle that the officer was not injured and that the matter did not escalate to a greater level.”

The 27-year-old suspect is expected to have his court date Monday in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
