An accident occurred on Saturday shortly before 5 p.m. on the Jules de Trooz bridge in Brussels, without causing any casualties, according to the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone. A car, probably driving too fast, overturned, near the tram crossing area. A taxi was also involved in the accident. Police and emergency services attended the scene.
“It is clearly excessive speed which is the cause of the accident,” declared the spokesperson for the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone. “But the exact circumstances of the accident have not yet been determined,” he said. The occupants of the two vehicles involved were unhurt, but the car was seriously damaged following completely overturning in the middle of the road on the Jules de Trooz bridge.
The circulation of trams 62 and 93 was disrupted due to the security perimeter established by the emergency services during the intervention.
