A traffic accident involving two trucks, one of which was transporting nitrogen, occurred early Wednesday followingnoon on the E411 near Houdemont (Habay) towards Brussels, causing major disruptions on the highway and secondary axes, reports the federal police.
The motorway towards Brussels is completely blocked, including the hard shoulder. The federal police organized a load shedding from the Arlon interchange to the N4 and a diversion from the Habay interchange. The vehicles stuck between the interchange and the accident were able to be evacuated, reports the police. Only the heavy goods vehicles were still immobilized on the spot in the middle of the followingnoon, a water supply was set up to allow the drivers to quench their thirst.
“Everything should be back to normal by 6 p.m.”, we told the federal police around 4:30 p.m. The accident not only disrupted traffic on the highway. It also led to the saturation of the Nationale 4 shortly before Martelange in the direction of Brussels. Other secondary axes are also very busy. One of the two damaged trucks was transporting nitrogen, confirms the federal police. As no leaks were to be deplored, no security perimeter had to be set up.
