Access works to the Campichuelo Port in Itapúa show great progress

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) is carrying out significant progress in the asphalt paving work between the PY06 route and the Cambyretá district, in the Itapúa department.

The work is 85.2 percent complete on the overall road section that reaches the strategic port of Campichuelo. This is vital not only to boost local development, but also to break down historical isolation of communities.

With 14.8 kilometers of the total 19.57 kilometers already covered with asphalt concrete, the work is entering its final phase, however, the real milestone this week has been the culmination of a titanic task: the excavation of the rock formation at kilometer 8 of the route.

This achievement has literally torn down the barrier that divided the section in two, freeing Cambyretá from its isolation and unifying the corridor, according to the MOPC report.

Meanwhile, work continues on other fronts, such as the concreting of the slabs of the bridges located at kilometres 3.2 and 6.1 of the route, key structures that will strengthen the capacity and safety of the route.

A vital artery for development

The renovated route will directly benefit some 7,000 residents, guaranteeing them year-round access, regardless of inclement weather.

Beyond the figures, this route is the key that will open the doors of the port of Campichuelo to the rich agricultural production of the region, catapulting Itapúa towards national and international markets.

The MOPC investment in this initiative reaches G. 65,302,245,010, and is executed by the Compañía de Construcciones Civiles SA, which demonstrates the commitment to the future of the Itapuense territory.

As this new road nears completion, the more than 634,000 inhabitants of Itapúa can envision a horizon of growth and prosperity, supported by a modern and efficient infrastructure.
