A few days ago, Ñublense striker Patricio Rubio wrote a heartfelt message on his social media, in which he apologized to the Rojo fans for the irregular performance he has shown this season, in which he lost his starting position.

“I wanted to apologize to the entire red family. I haven’t had a good time lately and I haven’t been up to the team’s standards. I will do my best to turn the situation around and continue to bring joy to the club from my side,” Rubio said, implying that he will at least remain at Paso Alejo until the end of the season.

“I have a huge affection for this beautiful club that welcomed me in an incredible way. I hope to be able to play at a high level for many more years and continue to enjoy it as I did until recently. I will do everything I have to make it happen,” he reflected.

“These are not excuses, but it is a man’s responsibility to accept that we are moving forward and that there is still a long way to go. Long live the Reds,” concluded the experienced attacker.

His media catharsis did not go unnoticed by his boss, Mario Salas, who, at the time, made the drastic decision to exclude him even from the summons.

“Taking on something and telling people about it shows an act of bravery on the part of Patricio (Rubio) to take it on and, on the other hand, a tremendous respect for the people, the fans, the people of Chillán and the people who have trusted him. Through the letter, he expresses his emotions, his feelings and not everyone does that, but it is an act of bravery, in keeping with what he has been as a person and a player in his life,” Salas reflected.

“On the other hand, he understands that it is the fan that one owes something, that is the most important thing in football, he owes them respect and dedication in each of the games, so I think what Patricio did is perfect and if it leaves him well, it means a springboard for what is to come, a springboard for morale and that means improving his performance, it will be good,” said the Red Devils coach on the subject. Rubio hopes for an opportunity to be a protagonist on Monday, at 7 p.m., in the first leg of the southern zone semifinals of the Copa Chile, against Deportes Linares.
