SECRETARY General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) Anwar Sanusi led the Indonesian delegation in the 4th Joint Working Group (JWG) on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Employment and Protection of Indonesian Domestic Workers in Malaysia in Johor Bahru, Malaysia . The Malaysian delegation was led by Dato’ Sri Khairul Dzaimee bin Daud, Secretary General of the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma).

Anwar Sanusi revealed that at the meeting the two countries agreed to form a joint task force (JTF) to accelerate integration between the Malaysian system (e-PPAx and MyIMMS) and Sipermit.

“In the discussion, the Malaysian delegation said that it was able to complete the integration within 6 months. However, this was not reflected in the RoD (Record of discussion – contents of the system integration agreement) to provide flexibility for the integration process,” said Anwar Sanusi.

According to Anwar, the integration process experienced a number of technical obstacles because the Malaysian side still needed time to integrate their internal systems.

Apart from the formation of the JTF, Anwar Sanusi said that the two friendly countries also discussed renewing the memorandum of understanding contract regarding Employment and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers in the domestic sector in Malaysia.

Anwar explained that the Malaysian side submitted a Proposed Guideline for Renewal of Work Permit and Contract of Employment for Indonesian Domestic Migrant Workers (IDMW) and the process flow.

After reading the proposal submitted by Malaysia, the Indonesian delegation emphasized the need to establish a mechanism to ensure IDMW welfare is maintained before the extension process is carried out.

“Therefore, it is necessary to involve the Malaysian Recruitment Agency (MRA) by employers for the extension process so that the Indonesian government, in this case the Indonesian representative in Malaysia, can monitor the protection and welfare of IDMW through MRA,” he said. (RO/Z-2)
