Academy of Medicine asked to take action for new cases of monkeypox

Caracas.- After two new cases of monkeypox were confirmed in Venezuela, the National Academy of Medicine of Venezuela reiterated the recommendations it made last July, in which it suggested declaring a health alarm to mobilize resources.

Via social networks, the agency stressed that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Monkeypox an International Public Health Emergency given the progressive emergence of 16,000 cases in 75 countries. The Academy issued the following Bulletin with guidelines for the country’s health authorities.

“The national epidemiological surveillance system is active as part of the actions instructed by President Nicolás Maduro. The Rafael Rangel National Institute of Hygiene and the Ministry of Health are monitoring cases,” said the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenez.
