Abu Dhabi Takes Center Stage in Global Golf Scene with Women’s World Amateur Championship

Abu Dhabi continues to lead the global sports scene in golf, with the arrival of the teams participating in the Women’s World Amateur Championship “Espirito Santo Cup,” which begins on Wednesday, following the men’s World Championship “Eisenhower Cup” was also held last week, achieving outstanding organizational and technical success.
To officially celebrate the start of the tournament week, a souvenir photo was taken in front of the famous Winged Falcon building at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, along with the Espirito Santo Cup. The players included Ilya Galitsky (Thailand), Chiara Horder (Germany), Intissar Rich (UAE), Megan Scheufele (America) and Lottie Wade “England”.
An elite group of the best amateur players in the world will compete in the 36-team edition, which is a prestigious event, as the Espirito Santo Cup was launched in 1964. All eyes are on the upcoming tournament hosted by Abu Dhabi, because it is the first time in its history that it will be held in the Middle East.
The American team holds the record for the number of times the title has been won on 14 different occasions, while the Swedish team is competing as the title holder of the last edition last year.
The Golf Federation, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the event partner, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, will host the two world championships for amateur teams, starting with the men’s championship “Eisenhower Cup,” which was held last week, while the women’s world championship “Espirito Santo Cup” will be held from the 25th to the 28th. October.
