The Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the expansion of its maritime fleet and the strengthening of its maritime operations, through the purchase of eight new vessels, including five bulk carriers and three crude oil tankers, with a total value of 955 million dirhams.
This acquisition comes under agreements recently concluded by the group, as part of its plans for strategic global expansion, in addition to strengthening the group’s shipping arm.
Abu Dhabi Ports stated in a statement yesterday that the five bulk carriers, which were purchased for 459 million dirhams, form part of a long-term agreement with Safe Power Tech, which was signed in April 2022, to transport general cargo and dry bulk cargo. Between the port of Fujairah and Bangladesh, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and other global destinations.
She added that the purchase of three crude oil tankers, with a total value of 496 million dirhams, is part of an agreement to transport crude oil at the international level, for a period of seven years, which was signed in December 2022 with Kazmortransflot «KMTF», the marine and logistical services company affiliated with the Kazakh national company. He added, “The expansion of our fleet through the purchase of five bulk carriers and three crude oil carriers is a milestone for the group’s maritime sector, and it will enable us to strengthen our business and provide it with marine assets and appropriate logistical services, to meet the growing global demand within the markets in which we operate.”
