Abu Dhabi Hudariat Island Cycling Hub | Cycling Hub on Hudayiriat Island

Abu Dhabi: A cycling hub has been opened on Hudayriat Island in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which will become a global cycling hub. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, inaugurated the integrated cycling hub at Hudariat Island of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club.

-This is the first initiative in West Asia to help the public to be active in cycling. He said the combined cycling club aims to accommodate both beginners and professionals and promote a healthy lifestyle among the people of the emirate. He also stated that Abu Dhabi Cycling Club has achieved achievements including Shield of General Excellence in 2021 in various competitions.

Abu Dhabi Executive Council Secretary General Saif Saeed Ghobash, Abu Dhabi Cycling Club Chairman Matar Suhail Al Yabouni, Vice Chairman Khalid Bin Shaban Al Muhairi and CEO Al Naqeera Al Khaili were with Sheikh Khaled who toured the cycling hub including Wolfie’s Bike Shop.

A 109 km track velodrome with a capacity of 3500 spectators is planned on Hudairiyat Island. Last year, the Union Cyclist International (UCI) chose Abu Dhabi as Bike City following the cycling-friendly initiatives in the emirate.

Abu Dhabi is the city that faces this status in Asia itself. Abu Dhabi bought a majority stake in bicycle manufacturing company Colnago two years ago. This company’s bicycle was ridden by Emirati team Team Emirates at Tour Day France.

Tadaj Pogakar, the rider of Team Emirates, who won in the last two seasons, finished as the runner-up this time. Abu Dhabi, which has won the title of Bike City, is hosting the UCI Urban Cycling World Championship in November this year. In 2024, the same World Cup will be staged in Abu Dhabi.
