The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi announced the referral of a pharmacy to the Public Prosecution following monitoring operations of damage and appropriation of public money, by replacing prescription drugs with non-prescribed products and supplies, in order to earn from the value of financial claims that are covered by the insurance company.
The department stated that the inspection and control teams over insurance claims detected suspicious operations issued by the pharmacy, and following follow-up, inspection visits and seizures, the competent disciplinary committee in the department issued a decision to refer the pharmacy to the Public Prosecution to investigate these practices. The Department of Health calls on health facilities operating in the emirate to adhere to standards and regulations, in order to preserve the efficiency of the health care system, preserve the health and safety of community members, and continue providing health care services in accordance with international best practices.
The department emphasized continuing efforts to ensure the quality and efficiency of health care services provided by continuing the department’s oversight role.
The department’s oversight and inspection teams carried out more than 1,300 inspection and inspection visits during the first half, during which 43 violations were detected. The year 2022 witnessed 4,300 inspection visits, during which 290 violations were monitored, which varied between non-compliance with the regulations, circulars, policies and decisions issued by the department, providing medical services that the health facility is not authorized to provide, and the lack of medical staff required to provide medical care in the health facility.
