The Egyptian champion qualified Alaa Abu Al-Qasim To the quarter-finals of the Fencing World Cup, which will be held from 23 to 26 February at Al Nady Club in the New Administrative Capital, following achieving an exciting victory over the Italian champion in the final price.
Abu Al-Qasim was able to outperform his counterpart Filippo Macchi, the Italian champion, 15-13 in a breathtaking match until the final touch, thus qualifying Abu Al-Qasim to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Thus, Abu Al-Qasim will face the winner of the French champion Enzo Levor and the Japanese Kenta Suzumura in the quarter-finals, at exactly four thirty in the followingnoon.
Abu Al-Qasim was able to beat South Korean champion Myung-Cheol 15-9 in the main round of 64 this morning, before defeating the United States champion Marcelo Olivares in the round of 32.
The Fencing World Cup competitions were launched in the New Administrative Capital, last Thursday, and witnessed the holding of group stage competitions for men’s singles, while the women’s singles competitions were held on Friday, while today the elimination round matches are played, starting from the main round of 64 until the final match.
The tournament will be held with the participation of 368 male and female players (202 men and 166 women) representing 45 countries, in addition to the technical, administrative and medical staff, so that the number of attendees to Egypt exceeds more than 500 foreign guests, making the tournament record a record in the number of attendance from outside Egypt.
