The operation took the morning. In the heart of an industrial area in Blanquefort, the squat located at 40, rue Jean-Duvert was evacuated by the police on Tuesday August 8. The operation was carried out “in execution of an eviction order issued on December 9 by the Bordeaux court for the occupied land”, specifies the services of the prefect of Gironde, Étienne Guyot. The security forces thus proceeded – calmly – to the evacuation of “31 people of Bulgarian nationality, including 15 minors”, according to the State services.
Among the thirty or so evacuees, “the vast majority refused social monitoring from the prefecture”, details the mayor of Blanquefort and vice-president of Bordeaux Métropole, Véronique Ferreira. In accordance with the regulations in force, they will not be redirected to accommodation. “Only a few, especially with young children, have accepted the temporary accommodation offered by the prefecture”, continues the mayor.
No social support
According to the State services in Gironde, “in addition to the illegality of this occupation, the living conditions of the occupants, the accumulation of waste and the presence of various objects of recovery (carcasses of cars, household appliances, etc.) presented significant risks to sanitation and public health. They add: “No family met the eligibility criteria (asserted desire for integration, having a life project in France, certificate of residence, schooling of children, etc.) in order to benefit from social support. »
According to Véronique Ferreira, the site had been occupied “for ten months”. This also prevented the owner of the land, Bordeaux Métropole, from selling it to “a local company which has had its building permit for months”. The evacuation being closed “and access to the site completely secure since this morning [hier] », the transfer of the land as well as the construction on site may well take place.
