The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that regarding 190 mysterious cases of hepatitis C infection were detected among children in the world.
The disease first appeared in Britain this month, where 111 cases, most of them children under ten years old, were detected, and since that time the disease has been monitored in at least 12 countries around the world.
Andrea Amon, director of the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told reporters, in a virtual briefing, that the number includes 40 cases in the European Union and the European Economic Area.
There are cases in the United States and Israel as well.
The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention is examining cases along with local authorities and the World Health Organization.
Hepatitis C is a rare disease in healthy children.
The World Health Organization says 17 children need liver transplants due to recent infections, and one of them has died.
Any link between cases and vaccination with the COVID-19 vaccine has been ruled out.
