Abinader granted Dominican nationality to Carlos Phillip Fuente

The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, granted the tobacco businessman Carlos Phillip Fuente Dominican nationality.

The nationality was made official through decree 845-21, issued on December 28 of last year, with the order to be sent to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior and Police, so that it is known and approved.

“Dominican nationality is granted, by way of privileged naturalization, to Carlos Phillip Fuente, a US national,” read part of the aforementioned presidential order.

Fuente, of Cuban origin, is considered one of the people who promoted the Dominican Republic as one of the world’s destinations for tobacco cultivation, creating the first Dominican cigar: the “Fuente Opus X”.

He also has properties in the country, the most ostentatious being a farm that the tycoon baptized as “Château de la Fuente”.

Similarly, he helped create a charitable foundation on the island, which was recognized by the United Nations (UN) as a model entity in the area of ​​Corporate Social Responsibility.
