Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian is landing in Syria today, to meet with its senior officials, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and developments related to the ongoing talks regarding a four-way meeting that includes the foreign ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey.
Al-Watan learned that Abdullahian, who is coming from Turkey, will start his visit to Syria from Latakia, to inspect the conditions of those affected by the earthquake, and then he will arrive in Damascus, where he will meet at noon with Foreign Minister and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad.
The visit of the Iranian minister came in the context of the resumption of contacts regarding a political breach on the mediation line between Damascus and Ankara. Yesterday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed that a meeting of the deputy foreign ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey will be held in Moscow next week in preparation for the meeting of the ministers. The meeting is the first political meeting between officials from Syria and Turkey since the beginning of the war on Syria.
Cavusoglu said during a joint press conference in Ankara with Abdullahian: “The meeting of defense ministers and intelligence chiefs from Turkey, Syria and Russia took place in the last period in a tripartite format, and then we agreed with the Iranian side on the previous visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian to Turkey on Iran’s participation.” In the meetings within the framework of the Astana track talks, pointing out that it is the only track that has been working so far on the issue of the Syrian crisis.
He added, “Turkey and Russia have declared that they have no problem or objection to Iran’s participation in the talks related to the Syrian file within the framework of the Astana track, so that it becomes a quadruple format, instead of a tripartite one, so our goal is clear,” stressing that “we have absolutely no problem with the participation of any country or party.” These talks, and we do not have any notes on the participation of Iran ».
And he stressed that “talks and preparations for holding foreign ministers’ talks in a continuous four-way format,” announcing that “next week there will be a four-way meeting in Russia, in which deputy foreign ministers will participate, to prepare for the meeting of foreign ministers.”
In turn, Abdollahian considered during the conference that Turkey’s security is part of Iran’s security, and said: “We discussed ways of cooperation in this matter,” and indicated that “Iran welcomes the four-party dialogue formula that includes Turkey, Syria, Russia and Iran.”
He pointed out that “the escalation from the Zionist entity increases the threat and instability in the region,” explaining that “Israel is working to stir up violence in Palestine,” stressing that “the extremist Israeli government has complicated the living conditions of the Palestinians.”
In turn, Archyde.com quoted Abdullahian as saying that Iran supports the rapprochement between Turkey and Syria, and supports the return of relations between Ankara and Damascus to normal.
