The Forces vives de Guinée (FVG) are planning a peaceful march on Tuesday, September 5 in Conakry, on the occasion of year 2 of the accession of the CNRD to power. FVG officials want to use this day to denounce the lack of visibility in the conduct of the transition.

Only the choice of this date raises concerns among some observers who fear possible violence in the country. The latter go so far as to ask the living forces to review the date of the demonstration.

This Tuesday, August 29, 2023, the general coordinator of the Forces vives de Guinea provided details on this issue. For Abdoul Sakho, the choice of the date of September 5 is strategic. “September 5 has entered the history of our country, it is not a date of the CNRD, it is not a priority for anyone, let’s not see it from a political angle. So for us, the choice is clear because this date does not belong to anyone.
Since the start of the transition, political and civil society actors have constantly called for a so-called “inclusive” dialogue. According to Abdoul Sakho, the actors of the living forces have always shown good faith to dialogue with the government. As proof, they have always responded to the call of religious leaders, when the latter became involved in the resolution of the crisis.

“At the level of the Forces vives de Guinée, we have never ceased to call for dialogue. We have never ceased to show that we are ready to negotiate. But what dialogue? We need a frank and sincere dialogue. And having a sincere dialogue means seeing what we are going to discuss, what our differences are, which can help us get out of this situation. The proof is that when the religious got involved, we responded to the call of the religious, we exposed our concerns, but how can you understand that there is a dialogue around a subject of misunderstanding. And when we talk about misunderstanding, it’s between two parties and you can’t get together to talk if the two parties don’t trust a third person who comes to facilitate exchanges between them. It’s as simple as that. This is why it hurts me when I hear certain analyses, otherwise we are not asking for the sea to drink, ”said the coordinator of the Forces vives de Guinea at our colleagues from Cavi media.

Abdoul Sakho thinks that with all that the people of Guinea endure in terms of suffering, with all the risks linked to other factors of “economic and social instability”, the actors concerned should not afford the luxury of go and sit around the table, without having the courage to make concessions on either side.
