“Abdel Bari Atwan ignites discourse with nest of rockets found in Lebanon” as musicians share their thoughts.

Journalist Abdel Bari Atwan tweeted regarding the missiles launched from southern Lebanon towards Israel, which sparked an interaction between activists on social media. He stated that the first response will be two missiles in revenge for the recent attacks on Syria. Atwan questioned whether the region is heading towards a regional war due to the storming of Al-Aqsa. The Israeli army retaliated by bombing targets belonging to the Hamas movement in southern Lebanon and Gaza. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galan ordered preparations for all possible responses. The UNIFIL said that it is in contact with both the Israeli and Lebanese sides and that they don’t want war.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Journalist Abdel Bari Atwan sparked an interaction between activists on social media following he tweeted regarding the missiles launched from southern Lebanon towards Israel.

Atwan said in his tweet: “The first rain will be two missiles, as an initial response, in revenge for two martyrs in the recent attacks on Syria. Is the region heading towards a regional war because of the storming of Al-Aqsa? The saying of the response at the appropriate time and place translates as a missile, and the next is greater.”

And he added in a separate tweet: “Finally, the response came quickly at the right time and place, and from the ‘nest of rockets’ in southern Lebanon. Occupied Jerusalem?”.

On Thursday evening, the Israeli army announced that it had bombed targets belonging to the Hamas movement in southern Lebanon and Gaza, while the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Galan, said that he had ordered preparations for “all possible responses” following rockets were fired from Lebanon and Gaza at Israel, which It came amid rising tensions in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

For its part, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, or what is known as “UNIFIL”, said that it is in contact with the Israeli and Lebanese sides and that they do not want war.



The situation in the Middle East remains tense as both sides exchange missile attacks and rhetoric. The recent escalation has roots in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and further exacerbates the already volatile situation in the region. As UNIFIL seeks to prevent war and negotiations continue, the world watches with bated breath as the outcomes of these interactions will shape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East for years to come.
