The announcement was made by Emmaüs/the Abbé Pierre Foundation, which refers to the cases of several women revealed “in a report”.
Abbé Pierre is accused, in a report, of sexual assault by several women. These acts are said to have been committed between the end of the 1970s and 2005, Emmaüs International, Emmaüs France and the Abbé Pierre Foundation announced on Wednesday.
“Our organizations salute the courage of the people who have testified and allowed, through their words, to bring these realities to light, we believe them,” write the three organizations in a joint statement. Abbé Pierre, whose real name was Henri Grouès, died in 2007.
Six women were allegedly involved, one of whom was a minor at the time of the incident. A seventh reported “sexist remarks” and “disturbing solicitations.”
