ABBA asks Donald Trump to stop using their music in presidential campaign

The members of the Swedish quartet ABBA have asked the Republican candidate for president of the United States, Donald Trumpto stop using his music and videos in his electoral campaign.

“We have discovered, along with the members of ABBA, that videos have surfaced where ABBA’s music is being used at Trump events and we have requested that such use be suspended immediately,” Universal Music said in a statement today.

The record label stressed that it has not received any request, so no permission has been given to those responsible for the Trump campaign.

During a rally of the Republican candidate At the event held last July in Minnesota, attendees were treated to several songs by the popular Swedish group, accompanied by videos of the band members, according to the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

ABBA thus joins other artists who have publicly asked Trump to stop using their music publicly, such as Rolling Stones, Céline Dion, Bruce Springsteen o Neil Young.
