Doha: Ibda ‘Digital Technology, the owner of the Masad Qatar app, has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Municipality to sell abandoned vehicles, equipment and boats through online auctions.

The deal aims to sell abandoned vehicles, boats and equipment through the Masad app. It also aims to attract more people by providing information on vehicles and other items through Masad’s app and website. On behalf of the Ministry of Municipality, Major General Ali Salman Al Muhannadi, Chairman of the Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, signed the agreement. Maj. Gen. al-Muhannadi said the agreement aims to diversify procedures for the sale of abandoned vehicles with the participation of the private sector. He said the owners should approach the authority to get the abandoned vehicles back and it would take only six months to recover the seized vehicles.

He pointed out that as part of the drive to eliminate abandoned vehicles, regarding 60,000 vehicles had been removed through previous agreements with other companies, raising 40 million riyals. Jabir Hassan al-Jabir, director of the Ryan Municipality and deputy chairman of the joint committee, said this was the first time an agreement had been signed to sell abandoned vehicles electronically and that a detailed assessment would be made six months following the agreement was signed. Fahad Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Masad Qatar, thanked the Ministry of Municipality for its partnership with the private sector.
