On Sunday August 14, two children were discovered near an outdoor swimming pool at the aquatic center. The two toddlers, a 10-month-old baby and a 2.5-year-old girl, were in the middle of backpacks left behind. An employee of the center noted movement and discovered the presence of the children, in a state of health deemed worrying. Two ambulances from the Hesbaye rescue zone as well as the police went to the scene.
The parents, aged 24 and 21, accompanied their children on the transport to the hospital. Magistrate Renaud Xhonneux specifies that they have certified that they have kept the children in their field of vision during their swim in the outdoor pool.
Given the family’s place of residence, the Liège public prosecutor’s office forwarded the file to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office and its youth section: “At this stage, there is no offense to be accused of, except a negligence, because there was probably no imminent serious danger. The youth section will mandate a service which will carry out a family investigation in order to ensure the well-being of the children or to accompany the family in question, “says Renaud Xhonneux . The parents will be heard shortly.
