The adjective “ababouiné” designates a sailboat stopped in the open sea due to a total absence of wind. It is also the name of the 16th feature film by Quebec director and screenwriter André Forcier, whose filming begins on Monday.

four years later The forgotten flowers (2019), the director of Hot water, fretted water (1976) et A made up story (1990), André Forcier transports us to the Faubourg à m’lasse of the 1950s, the archetype of the popular Quebec neighborhood in the Centre-Sud of Montreal.

Ababoined follows the story of a seventh grade class whose students revolt to find their teacher, a poet who teaches forgotten and invented words. After his expulsion from school because of his anarchist ideas, the children will mobilize to allow the publication of his collection.
