There are two novels written by Benjamin based on the politics of Arabi Nadu. ‘Al Arabian Novel Factory’ and ‘Jasmine Colored Days’. Read from any and move to the second. They are continuous with each other. The novel Adujeevita and the film Adujeevita are similar in nature. Whether you watch the movie and read the novel or read the novel and watch the movie, you will get many new things in your mind. There are many peculiarities and differences that make the novel relevant even when the film reaches the silver screen as an interpretation of the story.

Hurt Hamid

Hamid, who appears with Najeeb in the first sentence of the novel, however, disappears in the film. Najib’s gang at Bata police station and Sumesi prison. When the Arabs came to find the runaway slave, they watched in fear. Then they were happy that no one would come to them. Waited for someone from the embassy to come and call his name and take him home. But it was Hamid’s boss who arrived. Arbab dragged Hamid, who was screaming, by handcuffing him. The next day the embassies came and the first thing they called was Hamid’s name. If the embassies had come a day earlier, or Arbab had come a day late, Hamid would have been exiled. Blessy will think that the audience will not cry once more by showing Hamid’s crying.

Hakeem will come and go

Dhanuvachapuram in Thiruvananthapuram is the home of Hakeem, a native of Malappuram in the film. There is also a difference in meeting once more in the wilderness. In the novel, Najeeb is looking for Hakim. Najib gathered courage in the heavy rain and walked down. An encounter thus ensues that paves the way for the adventurous escapade that follows.

Arbab of Masara

It is noteworthy that Arbab is the first to convince Najib that there is no escape from the sheep’s life. The language of threat above all languages. He gives his binoculars to Najeeb in the tent. It can be seen clearly for miles. Arbab then shows off his twin pipe by spitting it out. He shot a bird that had flown far away and showed his superiority. ‘No matter how far you go, I can find you and pull the scissors. It was a lesson for Najib.

Najeeb’s son – Nabeel

In the movie, Najeeb is naming his unborn son. Nabeel. We don’t see Nabeel in the movie. But there is Nabeel in the novel. A goat named Nabeel. Najib, who divorced his pregnant wife, takes special care of the pregnant goat. She named the pet lamb for her son. Nabeel. Loved it. Touched. Without seeing the boss, he gave the milk of the big goat. Finally, Arbab was shocked when Nabeel also came among the goats chosen to line up. When all the ways to save him were closed, he became weak in pain as if he had lost his own manhood. Nabeel was one of the goats that later died of snakebite in Masara.

The relationship and friendship with the sheep is more in the novel. How a human life has become a sheep life comes before us through the pages. It goes from naming the goats to saying goodbye when it’s time to part ways. Najeeb named Mohanlal for the tilted goat, EMS for the crooked goat and Jagati for the laughing goat!

A man named Arbaba

The boss is powerful and ruthless throughout the film. But in the novel we see Arbab hiding in a corner because he is afraid of rain. At one point, Najeeb even gets a chance to kill him and escape. When Arbab is in front of him crying helplessly, Najeeb gets a gun. But not killing. We know the mercy that fills Najeeb.

A goat’s mate

In the novel, Najeeb is unexpectedly addicted. Thoughts of women’s bodies surround him. Looking for a body to sleep with that night, he found himself lying awake with the goat the next morning. Najib’s partner is a goat named Pochakari Ramani. Ramani was Najib’s first milked goat. The reason for giving that name is an old memory. Najib’s first girlfriend was that of a local pochakari, Ramani. The hero of the story has captured the similarity in the touch. However, this part of the novel did not capture the real Najeeb.

There are still differences between the novel and the film. Blessy’s Goat Life gives many reasons for those who have read it to read it once more, and for those who haven’t, to come back to the book. Just read and know. Must experience. Then it will be understood that the film Adujeevitva is a viewing experience created by respecting the reading experience of the Malayali.
