AADE: Fines for traffic fees – Who is at risk of “Ravasaki”

AADE is going to send “rabasaki” to more than 80,000 vehicle owners for unpaid traffic fees of 2019! The tax control mechanism managed to identify the tax cases that are to be time-barred at the end of the year.

With a decision issued by the commander of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, instructions are provided for the actions that taxpayers must take in order to correct the image of their vehicles in the Vehicle Information System. The services of AADE are invited until 30/9/2024 to send an e-mail message to the owners of the vehicles informing them that there is a possibility to declare until 31/10/2024 through the myCar application the actual condition of their vehicle by submitting the appropriate supporting document in order to be exempt from traffic fees.

By sending the messages, the application in myCar will open with the vehicles showing debts from road tax year 2019 per owner. Access to said application is done with Taxisnet codes. Through the application, the owner declares the state of the vehicle for the year of debt or for subsequent years (e.g. stolen, written off, immobile, exempt, etc.) and submits the appropriate supporting document.

According to the circular of the Governor of AADE Giorgos Pitsilis, the taxpayers will have the possibility to correct the image of the vehicles and of course to get rid of the fines.

All vehicle owners with unpaid road tax for 2019 will receive an email by September 30, 2024. By email (or by registered letter) from AADE, they will be informed of the possibility to declare by October 31, 2024 through the myCar application the actual condition of their vehicle by submitting the appropriate supporting document in order to be exempt from the traffic fees.
By sending the messages, the application in myCar will open with the vehicles showing debts from road tax year 2019 per owner. Through the application, the owner declares the state of the vehicle for the year due or for subsequent years (e.g. stolen, written off, stationary, exempt, etc.) and submits the appropriate supporting document proving that the road tax for that year is not owed .
For cases where it is not possible to notify the taxpayers centrally, their information will be made available to the D.O.Y./KEFODE to notify them by registered mail.
After October 31, 2024, owners may, through the “My Requests” application, state the reason for not owing traffic fees by attaching the supporting documents that prove the fact without this action interrupting the certification process.
The Tax Services then receive the information on the condition of each vehicle based on the owner’s statement and correct the image of the vehicle in the Vehicle Information System as shown by the relevant supporting document attached. For example, if a vehicle is found to have been in circulation abroad for more than one year, then its image is corrected for all years (immobilized for the corresponding period of time).
For the cases where delivery to a hardware collector/loss is declared, and there is no appropriate supporting document other than a responsible statement, the image of the vehicle is not corrected, however a relevant note is entered.
The Tax Services will make the relevant corrections until November 26, 2024 and certify the 2019 road tax from November 27 to December 3, 2024.
If the submitted supporting documents do not prove the non-obligation to pay traffic fees 2019, then the corresponding fees are included in the certification of traffic fees after the fine.
In the event that the owner of a vehicle on which the 2019 road tax has been assessed after the fine subsequently submits supporting documents proving that the road tax and the fine or only the fine are not owed, the supporting documents will be accepted by the Tax Service and the debt deleted on a case-by-case basis.
