An extension until April 12, 2023 (Holy Wednesday) was announced by the Ministry of Finance for the submission of a new or corrective statement E9, by thousands of property owners, if there were changes in 2022. It is noted that the deadline expired next Friday, March 31, 2023. At the same time, it is open and E9 of 2024 regarding changes in real estate that took place or will take place this year.
The decision on the new deadline was published in the Official Gazette.
In detail, the decision states the following:
The need to facilitate the submission of real estate data declarations (E9) for the year 2023.
The fact that this decision does not cause an expense to the state budget, we decide:
Especially for the year 2023, the deadline for submitting real estate data declarations (E9) provided for in the first paragraph of para. a of para. 3 of article 23 of Law 3427/2005 (A’ 312) is extended until 12.4.2023.
New submissions or corrections are made without the imposition of fines, however if it occurs after the declaration that their real estate has increased for any of the previous years, the ENFIA will be recalculated and a new settlement note will be sent.
The property data, as will be finalized on April 12, will be used to calculate ENFIA 2023, while the tax invoices are expected to be issued in April, as its payment will start from next May and will be completed in up to 10 installments until February 2024.

**Interview with Elena Papadopoulos, a Property Tax Expert, on the Recent E9 Submission Extension**
**Interviewer:** Good afternoon, Elena. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the recent extension announced by the Ministry of Finance regarding the E9 real estate data declarations. Can you tell us why this extension was necessary?
**Elena Papadopoulos:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. The extension until April 12, 2023, was crucial for property owners who may have experienced changes in their real estate holdings in 2022. With the initial deadline set for March 31, many people might have faced challenges gathering the necessary documentation or understanding the requirements. This extension alleviates that pressure.
**Interviewer:** That makes sense. What key points should property owners keep in mind regarding the submission of their E9 declarations?
**Elena Papadopoulos:** First and foremost, it’s important to note that property owners can submit new or corrective statements without incurring any fines for delays. However, if any discrepancies in their declarations lead to an increase in their property value, it will result in a recalculation of their ENFIA (Property Tax). The finalized data by April 12 will directly influence ENFIA 2023 calculations.
**Interviewer:** So, even if they miss the deadline, they still have some flexibility?
**Elena Papadopoulos:** Exactly. They can make corrections or submit new declarations without penalties as long as they act before the new deadline. It’s an opportunity for property owners to ensure their records are accurate and comprehensive, which is crucial for their future tax liabilities.
**Interviewer:** And how will these submissions impact the ENFIA payments?
**Elena Papadopoulos:** The finalized property data will be used to calculate the ENFIA for this year. The tax invoices are expected to be issued in April, with payments starting in May and spread over a maximum of ten installments until February 2024. Therefore, having accurate information is paramount for property owners to anticipate their financial obligations.
**Interviewer:** What advice would you give to someone who needs to make corrections to their E9?
**Elena Papadopoulos:** I recommend they follow the ten steps outlined by the Ministry of Finance carefully. It’s important to select the correct year and use the available online tools to create the E9 return accurately. If property owners need assistance, they should seek help from tax professionals to navigate any complexities.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights, Elena. It sounds like a critical time for property owners to ensure their compliance and avoid future complications.
**Elena Papadopoulos:** Absolutely, and thank you for bringing attention to this important matter. Timely and accurate submissions will help property owners avoid penalties and ensure they are paying the correct amount of taxes.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Elena, for your expertise. We hope property owners take advantage of this extension wisely.
