Mathias Jørgensen put AaB 1-0 up after a great layup from Kasper Davidsen, while Lars Kramer showed a striker’s sharpness when he equalized at 2-2 in added time.
This means that everything is open before the return match in Aalborg, and it creates joy in the AaB camp.
– Before the match, we showed that the most important thing was that we did not lose much. Now we have the second game at home, so it is a great relief that we got a draw home. The most important thing is that we live before the second match, and we do that to that extent, Lars Kramer notes.
– It will be an insanely good end to the year if we can play in the semi-finals. A big club like AaB must try to go as far as possible in the cup, says Mathias Jørgensen.
Along the way, AaB had several good periods in the match. The first half in particular was approved by the northerners. But Silkeborg is hard to put down.
– Silkeborg is good. We just have to acknowledge that. Especially in the second half they made it difficult for us. From the 60th minute they had us under pressure and a few minutes before they scored the first time I said to one of the others on the pitch that we couldn’t hold out like this for very long and unfortunately it turned out that stay true. They are good on this surface, says Lars Kramer, who is looking forward to coming home and playing on his own turf.
As a quarter-finalist, the goal is clear for Kramer.
– The cup tournament is important to us. We are not in a position to fight for medals, so this could be our way out in Europe. I was in the cup final last year, and I would very much like to try that again, says Lars Kramer.
– We have a good feeling. We come away with a good result all things considered. We know it can go strong against Silkeborg when they play on this surface, but we stood up well, says Mathias Jørgensen.
– We also have good periods on the ball ourselves, and this result was in no way undeserved. We work a lot with passive aggressiveness, and we forgot to push forward at the right times in the period when Silkeborg scored its goals. I think we recovered well and finished strong. This was a good performance, and if we can follow it up in front of a lot of people in Aalborg, I believe we will go to the semi-finals. At least everything is open, says Mathias Jørgensen.
Away goals are not played as a deciding factor in the event of a tie after the two times 90 minutes.
