Among other things, AaB’s two midfield talents Mads Bomholt and Kasper Davidsen are selected.
22 men have been selected, and eight of these are professionals from abroad. 10 players come from super league clubs and then there are four players from 1st division clubs. Not surprisingly, Max Ejdum from OB is selected. He has been one of several young OB players who have done well during the autumn.
The last three players in the squad are apparently from Vendsyssel FF.
Benjamin Clemmensen, Mads Nybo and Gustav Mortensen are also on the new U20 national team.
When the squad ticked in, it made sports director Christian Larsen take a second look at the list, because it looked almost completely wrong that three of the players came from Vendsyssel FF.
– I just looked an extra time to be absolutely sure, says Christian Larsen.
– First of all, it is great for the three players that they get this opportunity. There are some exciting matches ahead, and it is great that they are in that company, because it is an exciting group of players that have been selected, says Christian Larsen.
With the three U20 national team players, Vendsyssel FF is up to having four youth national team players, and it is guaranteed to be the first time in the club’s history that this has happened. A few days ago, Mads Houkjær was selected for the U18 national team.

This means that as many as four defenders are gone in the upcoming national team term, but that is no problem, even if the newly appointed head coach Mads Kristesen has to do without the majority of his centre-backs.
– It is only positive for us that we have them on such a trip. They are guaranteed to get a really good match in both training and matches, points out Christian Larsen.
It is no coincidence that Vendsyssel FF ends up having as many as three U20 national team players. It is obvious to look for players in the age group who can come to Vrå and get a boost in their senior career with lots of minutes on the pitch.
– We are looking directly for players who are on the youth national team, but we are looking for players who have a level that means that they can, for example, be considered for such a squad as the current U20 national team, says Christian Larsen .
While Gustav Mortensen, who is on loan from Lyngby, and Mads Nybo have several U-national matches on their CV, it is the first time that Benjamin Clemmensen has found his way into a youth national team, and such a story creates an extra smile on the sports director’s lips.
– He has done well for us since he joined from Randers, and this is also proof that you can get behind the wheel and don’t need to have many U-national matches behind you to be considered for an U20 – national team. I hope that we can get more stories like this in the future, says Christian Larsen.
There is actually also a former AaB member in the squad. The current FCK keeper Theo Sander is also included as one of two keepers.
The U20 national team is currently being used as a kind of waiting room for the upcoming U21 litter, which will start qualifying for the European Championship in the autumn of 2025. Here, it will initially be the year 2004 and 2005 that will make up the tribe. This means that Sebastian Otoa and Oliver Ross, for example, can also be considered.

**Interview with Christian Larsen, Sports Director of Vendsyssel FF**
**Editor:** Christian, congratulations on having three of your players selected for the U20 national team! What was your reaction when you saw the squad?
**Christian Larsen:** Thank you! I have to admit, I did a double-take when I saw that three players from Vendsyssel FF were on the list. It’s not something you expect, but it just shows the talent we have developing here.
**Editor:** Absolutely. This must be a significant milestone for Vendsyssel FF, having four youth national team players in total now.
**Christian Larsen:** It certainly is! This is the first time in our club’s history that we have so many players representing the youth national teams. Just a few days ago, Mads Houkjær was also selected for the U18 team. It’s a proud moment for everyone involved — the players, the coaching staff, and the club as a whole.
**Editor:** With the upcoming national team commitments, how do you feel this will impact your squad?
**Christian Larsen:** While it does mean losing four defenders for the national team period, we see it as a positive development. These players are getting invaluable experience, playing alongside some of the best young talents in Denmark. It will only benefit them in the long run.
**Editor:** Could you elaborate on the potential benefits for the players?
**Christian Larsen:** Of course! Training and playing in those environments will elevate their skills and confidence. They’ll be tested in new ways and exposed to different styles of play, which is crucial for their development. Plus, the experiences and memories they take away from this will motivate them even further.
**Editor:** What do you hope to see from the players during their time with the national team?
**Christian Larsen:** I hope they seize the opportunity to showcase their skills and learn as much as they can. It’s a big stage for them, and I want them to hold their own, contribute to the team, and come back even better. We believe in their abilities, and it’s exciting to see them getting this recognition.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Christian. We look forward to seeing how these young talents perform at the national level.
**Christian Larsen:** Thank you! We appreciate the support, and I’m sure our players will make us proud.
