A9 motorway – Big mess in sight at the border, the AP-7 closed to La Jonquera in the Perpignan-Barcelona direction after a fire

While traffic looks intense to the south this Saturday, the highway is closed on the Spanish side.

A fire near the traffic lanes forced the Spanish authorities to close the AP-7 motorway in La Jonquera this Saturday. Like a few weeks ago with a bus, it was a vehicle on fire on the highway that caused this closure of the highway.

Several videos circulated this Saturday morning on the vehicle on fire.

An immediate and significant consequence on the already intense traffic flow this Saturday morning towards the south. Thus the A9 motorway recorded, at 8:30 a.m., an extended travel time of 25 minutes in the Perpignan-Barcelona direction. And that was only the beginning.

On Twitter, this Saturday morning, a user of the AP-7 indicated that “the fire was already going up in the forest near the highway”. “Half an hour ago and the firefighters have not yet arrived, they must come from Figueres; the Jonquera fire station has closed this year”, he lamented!

Car on the AP-7 in La Jonquera, 400 meters from the fire station. The fire is already going up the forest. Half an hour ago and the firefighters have not arrived yet, they must have come from Figueres. The Jonquera fire station has closed this year. Fucking country misery!

A day classified as “red” and an already saturated sector

Bison Fûté classified “Red” the day of this Saturday in the sense of departures on vacation. They are thousands to take the A9 motorway towards Spain this Saturday.

In addition, nearly 30,000 people are still expected in the followingnoon in the area where the Déferlantes festival is taking place, just a few kilometers from the motorway exit.

More information to come.
