A16 Bionic is the new chipset from the Cupertina company #AppleEvent

just a few hours ago we witnessed a new Apple event, in which we finally saw the new generation of the iPhone. And while the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus kept the same A15 Bionic processor as last year, the new ones iPhone 14 Pro y iPhone 14 Pro Max have more power with the new Apple A16 Bionic.

The new chipset for apple mobile phones it is even smaller, with a lithography that goes from 5 to 4 nanometers. Likewise, the SoC has the not insignificant sum of 16 billion transistors.

If we delve into the CPU, the new A16 Bionic includes 6 cores (with a 2 + 4 distribution), which are divided into 2 high-performance cores and 4 energy-efficient cores. As usual, Apple does not provide more details such as frequencies or cache, but we will surely see them later with the first benchmarks.

According to the cupertina company, the new processor is up to 40% more powerful than close competitors on Android. Like if you compare the same processor performance, Apple’s only consumes a third, being much more energy efficient. And if you compare the A15 once morest the new A16, the latter consumes 20% less energy.

The Neural Engine dedicated to Artificial Intelligence has also been improved on the Apple A16 Bionic. Recall that last year’s model was capable of performing 15.8 trillion operations per second, while this year it increases to 17 trillion operations per second.

If we talk regarding the GPU, the A16 Bionic includes a 5-core with frequencies that have not been revealed at the event. Equally, has 50% more memory bandwidth compared to the previous A15 Bionic.

for this generation the Display Engine has also been perfected. Allowing the refresh rate to 1 Hz, the control of the Always On Display, managing the maximum brightness of 2000 nits and advanced smoothing for the interactive animations of the Dynamic Island.

Also ISP or Image Signal Processor has been upgraded in the new Apple SoC. This small chip (ISP) works together with the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine, being capable of processing up to 4 trillion operations per photo.

Do not forget that this new SoC will be available only in the Pro version of the new iPhone. That is the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

What do you think of the new set of nano processors shown at the Apple event?
