After Corona and cost increases, the next burden is on the ski regions. That would be ammunition for political fringes!
Vienna (OTS) – “It looks like the next in a whole series of economic burdens,” ÖHV President Walter Veit warns politicians not to take the planned drop in income in the ski areas, which will lack guests as a result of the tunnel traffic jams, seriously to take: “It affects ski rental, it affects gastronomy, it affects hotels, it affects everyone. Regular guests probably accept a longer journey for a week’s holiday. But if you spontaneously want to go skiing for a day or two, you will do better. That really hurts all sectors here.” The hotels would be doubly hurt by the lower occupancy and price enforcement in the high season, which is so important from a business and economic point of view: “In view of the cost avalanche from energy to food and loan interest to wages and salaries, the companies need the revenue urgently.”
Veit: The consequences of the tunnel closures might give political fringe ammunition
“Safety is clearly the priority once more. But why is it always the same people who pay extra?” Veit reminds of the company closures as a result of Corona: “Hopefully one chapter is closed forever as of today. Let’s not immediately start a new one in this drama!” additional burden on the back of the regional economy: “Then the tunnel will be renovated and the local economy will have to be renovated. We can do that better if everyone pulls together and works together on a solution!”
