“It’s unfortunate but clichés die hard. A young woman who knows how to lay tiles is still a surprise, ”laments Kelly Cruz. At 29, the Bas-Rhinoise has acquired a small notoriety on social networks thanks to her job. “I spent quite a bit of time on Tik Tok during the first lockdown. So, I wanted to test by posting my first video in December 2020, ”says the young woman.
Inspired by the many montages where the Tik-Tokeuses chain outfits, Kelly Cruz takes advantage of a medical appointment to make a video where she goes in a second from a t-shirt outfit – jeans to her overalls. “My video got 600,000 views. I immediately understood that there was a niche to take, ”explains the Alsatian. The one who works as a tiler in her father’s family business in Mittelhausen (Bas-Rhin) then begins to shoot visual content on her sites. “I can just as easily film the laying of tiles as the smoothing of a joint. I also give DIY advice to my community when it is within my competence,” she says.
In one year, his accounts have exploded on social networks with 67,000 subscribers on Instagram and especially 750,000 followers on Tik Tok. “The niche of beauty influencers is saturated but there are only a few of us who are construction influencers. This attracts brands in the sector and since then I have collaborated with brands like Max Tool and Blakläder,” admits Kelly. Without giving figures, she recognizes “to manage to double or even triple her salary thanks to these collaborations on the networks”.
