Kottayam ∙ The cyber police arrested Sreejabhavan S. Vishnu (25) of Thiruvananthapuram Neyyatinkara Poowar Uchakkada in the case of extorting 12 lakh rupees from a young man through online honeytrap. After creating a fake account on Facebook in the name of a woman, she befriended a young man from Kattururthi and threatened him by taking a nude photo of the young man.
The police said that he had been extorting money since 2018 by threatening to send nude photos of the young man to his family and friends. Yesterday, after demanding Rs 15 lakh, the young man lodged a complaint with District Police Chief K. Karthik. As per the instructions of the police, the youth agreed to pay Rs 20 lakh. Later, Vishnu was caught near the Kilimanoor KSRTC stand in Thiruvananthapuram to buy money.
