The Indonesian student started uploading selfies to his “Ghozali Everyday” collection in late December, but it wasn’t until early January that sales skyrocketed.

Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, a computer science college student living in the city of Semarang, Indonesia, has become a millionaire following selling hundreds of photos of himself as an NFT (non-fungible token) collection.

Ghozali took a selfie sitting in front of his computer almost every day for the past five years and intended to use the nearly 1,000 images to create a time-lapse video that he would teach on graduation day.

However, the 22-year-old found out regarding the blockchain and decided to upload the photos to the OpenSea NFT trading platform.

“I thought it would be fun if any of the collectors acquired my face,” Ghozali said in statements collected by AFP. “I never thought anyone would want to buy the selfies, so I priced them at just three dollars.”

The young man started uploading selfies to his “Ghozali Everyday” collection in late December, but it wasn’t until early January that sales skyrocketed.

As of the followingnoon of January 14, Ghozali’s collection had reached a total trading volume of 317 ether, equivalent to more than a million dollars.

“To be honest, I still don’t have the courage to tell my parents, they would be wondering where I got the money from,” Ghozali said.

The lucky student dreams of one day opening his own animation studio, a project in which he plans to invest the money he has earned. Ghozali will continue to take daily selfies until he finishes college.
