Gendron-Tardif had already fled before the arrival of the police on the spot. He was located, then arrested a few hours later, along the Décarie highway.

It was following his interrogation with the major crimes investigators that they informed him that he was under arrest for the murder of his mother.

Emmanuel Gendron-Tardif, who has no criminal record, was scheduled to appear Thursday at the Montreal courthouse on a murder charge.

The alleged murderer is known in the film industry in Montreal for having, among other things, directed three feature films.

His latest film, “Au grand jour”, which he produced with actress Léa Roy, received the mention of the jury at the Cinémania Film Festival last November. The film is due to hit theaters next April.

Lysane Gendron had worked for the City of Laval for several years. She held the position of deputy director in the department of culture and leisure.

Since the beginning of 2023, three murders have been committed in the province and in each of the cases the victims were women.

On January 12, Nadine Flora Alinanyinyi, a 31-year-old Cameroonian immigrant, was murdered in her home in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. She would have been stabbed to death.

A few days later, the bodies of a man and his sister were found in a residence in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The 45-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her brother, who later took his own life.
