a year later, many batteries would start to fail

The iPhone 14 Pro is making headlines once more… for the wrong reasons. Almost a year following its launch, Apple’s flagship is at the center of a wave of criticism for the remaining battery capacity on the device following 11 months of use. In many cases, this data is now less than 90%. A disappointing situation, even unusual, following such a short period of use.

Has your iPhone 14 Pro battery aged surprisingly quickly? Tell yourself that you are not alone. On specialized forums such as on X (Twitter), many users also denounce the low battery capacity remaining on their device following just 11 months of use. And while a large proportion of iPhone 14 Pro owners fortunately observe normal aging of the battery, a significant portion of users report, on the contrary, a greatly reduced capacity index… falling below the 90% mark for the most unlucky.

For its part, Apple wants to be reassuring. The group explains in particular that a normal battery ” is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity following 500 full charge cycles “, reports the specialized site once more.

The iPhone 14 Pro: a special case?

Since the iPhone 11, the firm has also offered a dynamic monitoring system for the energy needs of its devices, in order to avoid as much as possible performance drops due to premature aging of the battery. A device which however seems to show its limits on the iPhone 14 Pro. And it may not be by chance.

If the aging of the battery is essentially due to the daily use of each user and their habits (which explains the great disparity in the indices of remaining capacity), it should still be noted that the iPhone 14 Pro welcomed the last year two new features that may explain why its battery is under severe strain.

The device indeed has an Always-on screen which might have an impact in the long term, and also has an OLED panel twice as bright as that of its predecessor (up to 2000 cd / m²) . Two things to consider. It is also possible that the installation of the iOS 17 beta (whose energy management is not yet fully optimized) played once morest some iPhone 14 Pro.

Anyway, if you are considering a battery change, note that the thing is free under an AppleCare + contract, at least when the capacity falls below the 80% mark. Apart from any guarantee, it will however be necessary to pay 119 euros for a replacement at Apple or at an authorized repairer.
