A year ago, Paolo Falzone killed six people at the wheel of his car: where is the investigation?

The work of investigators and justice has practically not stopped for a year; numerous hearings, to try to understand the behavior of this driver Paolo Falzone. For almost a year, he has been imprisoned in Tournai prison. He knows it, this weekend is the first carnival since the facts. “A year of the facts, but also a year of detention. A year that he does not think only regarding that. He must be followed because he is not doing well for the moment in detention. He knows his responsibility” , explains his lawyer, Me Discepoli.

For the time being, Paolo Falzone is charged with manslaughter for five victims and, since August, murder for a sixth. His profile reveals an addiction to speed, a strong tendency to film himself at crazy speeds. According to certain elements of the investigation, his speed was close to 160 km/h. At the time of the facts, his video is activated.

“We see him hitting the first people and then the video cuts out. It allows us to bring a lot of things”, notes his lawyer.

On March 30, a reconstruction will take place at the scene of the events in the presence of the driver. Many questions remain: why did he continue on his way with victims in his vehicle? Why did he roll over a gille?

For the moment, the investigation is still in progress in this case and no deadline has been announced for a trial. Paolo Falzone risks up to 30 years in prison.
