Code for Africa’s PesaCheck fact-checking initiative is the largest in Africa with staff in 14 countries producing more than 2,000 denials a year. PesaCheck has established the African Fact-Checking Alliance (AFCA) which has over 370 newsrooms from 29 countries and organizes initiatives to encourage cross-border collaboration and raise awareness among stakeholders to ensure a safe information ecosystem in Africa.
