An artist in Australia is fighting to keep her gallery open only to women, following a court ruled to allow men to visit the gallery, citing gender discrimination.

Artist Kirsha Ketchell appealed the court’s decision to overturn the ruling, saying it looked “very narrowly at the social discrimination that women have been subjected to throughout history and until today,” and noting that an exhibition of women’s art might help achieve a degree of equality.

The court made its ruling in April, based on a gender discrimination claim filed by a man in the Australian state of New South Wales, named Jason Lau, following he was blocked from accessing at the exhibition organized at the famous Tasmanian Museum of Art in Australia. .

The exhibition includes famous paintings owned by the museum, by great artists such as Picasso and Sidney Nolan.

Since the court’s decision to allow the men to visit, the exhibition has closed its doors to all visitors.

Ketchel says she will challenge the court’s decision using a trick to bring the exhibit into compliance with legal regulations.

Kitchel plans to turn the performance hall into a women’s restroom, as a legal excuse to allow only women to visit the premises.

Ketchell told Australian media: “It will be the most famous toilet of all time, and men will not be allowed to see it. Only on Sunday of each week will men be allowed to enter. in order to learn how to fold clothes following washing them, as well as how to iron them.

Ketchel added that Mr Jason Lua’s trial was a “blessing in disguise”; Thanks to this trial, his artistic work was revealed. Ketchell also pledged to take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.
