A woman was rescued on Sunday, September 1, after being swept away by the current on the night of August 31 following the flooding of the El Cangilón stream, in the Barrialito sector, Falcón state.

The woman, identified as Dougleidys Karina Senegal Blanco, 32 years old, was driving a red Corsa model vehicle when she was swept away by the current of water, reported Falcon News.

Heavy rain prevented search efforts, but the next morning she was rescued safely from a tree, which she clung to all night after managing to get out of her vehicle.

The vehicle was later found completely destroyed at the mouth of the stream, in the Playa El Estero sector.

Rains cause power outages and flooding

The rains recorded on Sunday, September 1st in Caracas and other states in the country caused power outages, flooding and even rivers overflowing, according to reports shared on social media. The Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace reported that officials from the National Risk Management System are monitoring the levels of the Guaire River, although there are already reports of streams overflowing in different areas of the country.

In Greater Caracas, rains accompanied by electrical discharges and winds caused power outages and in some areas, complete power outages, such as in Santa Monica, Santa Ines, San Pedro, Las Mesetas, Santa Fe, Santa Monica, Cumbres de Curumo and La Boyera. Other areas where power outages were reported were: Las Acacias, El Hatillo, Macaracuay, Terrazas del Club Hípico, Los Chaguaramos, El Paraiso, Los Ilustres.

Likewise, in several areas of Miranda state, service interruptions were reported from early in the morning, specifically in sectors of San Antonio de los Altos, such as Las Polonias Nuevas, El Retiro, San Diego de Los Altos and Los Castores. Hours later, in the middle of the rain, power outages were also reported in Los Teques.
