A Woman Owns an Entire Nevada Neighborhood Because of Bad Copy-Paste

Despite herself, a woman has become the owner of 86 lots in the same district of Nevada, the value of which is estimated at $50 million, because… of a copy-paste error.

The woman, whose identity remains secret, fell in love with a single-family home in a new neighborhood developed by the Toll Brothers company east of the city of Reno, Nevada.

After spending $594,481 for her new cozy nest, she found herself the owner of 84 additional lots and two common spaces, without even having negotiated, reports the Reno Gazette Journal.

The wrong legal description would have been copied and pasted into the deed, which indicated that the buyer became the owner of lots 1 to 85, as well as common areas A and B. Several houses have already been built − and sold − on these lots.

As of Saturday, no less than 64 lots had been transferred to the name of the buyer, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

The error will be corrected − and the properties returned to their true owners − by the firm responsible for issuing the title deeds. However, delays may occur, depending on the degree of cooperation of the buyer.
