A alone woman, locked in her apartment, on Christmas Eve, goes wild. Because? The dramaturgy of Gonzalo San Millán, the direction of Nicolás Caminti and above all, the performance of Ana Muzzin, They will give an answer. Or maybe more. Or nothing.
“The Hunt for the Wild Woman” is the new proposal from the Roque theater company Escena Urgente, which this Saturday, at 10 p.m., will present at the El Biombo Art Club (Rodhe 1454, Roca) with tickets at $3000, they can be obtained by calling 2984 15-8055.
“A double game between the hunt and the house,” says Nicolás Caminiti, director of the play, in a dialogue with RÍO NEGRO Diary. “A woman who has been locked up for a long time (it is not known how long) in that apartment that she lives in and that the dramaturgy of the play puts in a current contrast that has to do with the Christmas celebration, It’s Christmas Eve, Outside you can hear the celebrations of the people gathered and this woman who is alone in her apartment, locked up for a long time due to a particular situation that happened to her son and her entire family. Because of that conflict that The work will reveal why she spends this Christmas alone and begins to remember past Christmases and particular situations that he experienced with his family. From there the story of this woman is woven together, the reason why she is locked up and because she is a wild woman, because she transforms into another species.”
«The work proposes a change in normal behavior. When we manage to do what is humanly expected, that is when the wild woman appears at her best.”
Nicolás Caminiti, director of “The Hunt for the Wild Woman”
Where is that woman (who turns) wild? “She talks regarding a window,” reveals the director. “From there he sees what is happening outside, the people celebrating Christmas. And the furniture that surrounds it is a kind of living room with a somewhat timeless aesthetic, in retro, vintage tone that hints at the past, An aesthetic of Christmases that happened at some point that is no longer the current one.”
“The Hunt for the Wild Woman” is the third one-man show from Escena Urgente, following “Everything ends up moving” and “The runner”. All of them starred Ana Muzzin and in all cases they were very powerful women, says Nicolás. “There is something that all the texts have, and that ends up captivating us, and it is the power that the three women each have in their environment, in their context and in their narration. They are three women who have very great power when it comes to facing the situations they have to face. They are strong women, so to speak.”
In this sense, Ana’s acting work is key, her stage performance and the way in which she constructs each of the women, but above all the wild woman in this last staging. “Ana’s acting power makes her these characters who have incipient power in dramaturgy they can come to light with very great force. This work is a step forward in the powers of these women. ‘The Hunt for the Wild Woman’ has something that reveals more than just her power as an actress. It seems to me that in the other performances there was something that was not fully exploited and that in ‘The Hunt…’ has an acting career and a transversality of dramaturgy criteria that we take and give it power in its performance.”
The staging constructs a timeless space full of melancholy for a past time that apparently will never return. Can the woman looking out the window come back? “Beyond Ana’s performance, the scenery, the lighting, the textures, the tones and the voice, The work proposes a change in the normal behavior of a person. We come from a type of body, of voice. At Escena Urgent we like this type of movement and for something creative and unknown in the theater to appear. And in this case, when we manage to do what is humanly expected, that is when the wild woman appears at her best.
