The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the week from December 26 to 30, 2022 in the red, its main index, the Masi, dropping 2.14% to 10,720.25 points.
The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies, lost 2.87% to 857.43 points, while the Casablanca ESG 10, the Environment, Social and Governance benchmark ( ESG), fell 2.65% to 805.04 points.
Since the beginning of the year, the Masi, the MSI20 and the Casablanca ESG have posted underperformances of -19.75%, -21.03% and -19.34% respectively.
At the end of this week, 15 sectors ended down while 7 ended up and only one remained stable.
The telecommunications sector (-7.23%) showed the strongest decline, followed by that of chemicals (-6.55%) and health (-5.15%).
Conversely, the Beverages sector achieved the best performance (+7.09%), ahead of Engineering and Industrial Equipment (+6.5%) and Transport (+5.6%).
The overall volume of trade amounted to more than 8.98 billion dirhams (MMDH), including 4.22 billion dirhams made on the central equity market and 4.76 billion dirhams on the block market.
On the podium of securities transactions, Managem is in the lead with a volume of 2.5 billion dirhams, followed by Cosumar (270.3 million dirhams (MDH)) and Afriquia Gaz (246.49 MDH).
Market capitalization amounted to 561.1 billion dirhams.
On the individual values side, the biggest drops were recorded by Maghreb Oxygène (-18.42% to 244.75 DH), BMCI (-15.62% to 354.40 DH), Cosumar (-9.52% to 190 DH), Auto Hall (-9.09% at 65 DH) and Itissalat Al Maghrib (-7.23% at 95 DH).
The best performances of the week were the work of Oulmes (+14.26% to 1,554 DH), Stokvis Nord Afrique (+13.02% to 15.71 DH), Stroc Industries (+11.89% to 39.72 DH), Lesieur Cristal (+11.54% at 230 DH) and SMI (+9.35% at 1,520 DH).
