Sarahah News – Between 10,000 and 20,000 people have fled the fighting in Sudan to seek refuge in neighboring Chad, according to UNHCR teams on the border.

“The majority of the arrivals are women and children,” UNHCR said in a statement on Thursday. “UNHCR is working closely with the Chadian government and its partners to assess their needs and prepare a joint response.”

Also, UNHCR is coordinating with the Chadian authorities to help them register the new arrivals in the coming days.

On the other hand, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), called for a truce throughout Eid al-Fitr, but he questioned the acceptance of the army commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to stop the fighting.

“We call for a truce throughout the Eid period and are committed to it, but the other side is bombing us with all the mechanisms,” Hamidti said in a press interview, noting that the only solution to the crisis now in Sudan is to hand over Al-Burhan to justice.
