The full moon called "Take caution, and follow the preventive instructions to avoid infection with this dangerous disease".

A number of viruses cause hemorrhagic fever, and the disease may be simple sometimes, but at other times it may threaten life, knowing that it is transmitted from some animals and insects to humans, and the infection can also be transmitted from one person to another.

Most of the injuries were concentrated in the Dhi Qar governorate in the south of the country, where the ministry announced, on Monday, the dispatch of a high-ranking delegation to the city headed by the Director General of the Public Health Department, where several measures were taken in coordination with the local government in the governorate, ministries and other bodies.

Specialists indicate that Dhi Qar has recorded 30 cases since the middle of last year, 10 of whom died, and the concerned authorities in the governorate launched a control campaign in the red meat markets.

Dhi Qar Governorate is in a state of anxiety and apprehension about the spread of the contagious disease, amid demands from government agencies to activate health control over meat shops, and to prevent the phenomenon of slaughtering livestock in primitive ways and in public places, causing contamination and spreading diseases.

A veterinarian in the province stated that "This disease began to spread last year, and the city recorded several deaths and injuries, as well as other cities, but it is strange that the official procedures from the Ministry of Health did not live up to the national level required to confront this disease, and to strengthen the veterinary services with basic supplies, as well as launching monitoring teams to follow up on slaughter sites Animals and their compliance with safety recommendations".

The doctor, who preferred not to be named, adds to the website "Sky News Arabia"that "In its infancy, this disease is not dangerous, but perhaps if it spreads faster, it will be difficult to control and resist, especially with the absence of the necessary vaccine for it."indicating that "The medical infrastructure in Iraq is not ready for more pressure, as in addition to the people infected with the Corona virus, it will be difficult to contain any other virus, and those infected with it as well".

In the same context, several Iraqi governorates announced accelerated measures to prevent the disease and limit its spread.

Kirkuk Governorate Health Director, Nabil Hamdi, said, "The governorate will launch a campaign to prevent hemorrhagic fever, especially after the emergence of cases of the disease in Dhi Qar governorate".

He confirmed in a press statement that "The investigation on the issue of hemorrhagic fever in Kirkuk is continuing, and we will conduct a workshop to spread awareness and culture about the mechanism and how the disease is transmitted between people in the province."indicating that "So far, no cases have been reported in the province".

40 percent

According to the World Health Organization, the mortality rate for hemorrhagic fever is up to 40 percent of infected people.

The virus is transmitted through poultry or livestock to humans, while it is transmitted from one person to another due to direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other body fluids of the infected person.

Some types of viral hemorrhagic fevers include; Dengue fever, Ebola fever, Lassa fever, Marburg fever and yellow fever.

It should be noted that there is no cure for viral hemorrhagic fevers, but there are vaccines for a few of them, while prevention remains the best way to confront it until scientists discover additional vaccines for it.

And Iraq officially recorded the first death from this disease in 2018.
