On the evening of the 2nd day of Tet, the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labor (LDL) organized a meeting program “Happy Tet with the workers of the boarding house” for the boarding house where many workers stayed and did not return home to celebrate Tet. Mr. Phung Thai Quang, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labor, said that during the coming New Year, everyone and every family hopes to reunite and reunite… however, for many different reasons, many worker families workers cannot return home.

This is the second year that the program “Happy Tet with dormitory workers” has been organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation. It is an activity with profound social significance and has received consensus, positive support and understanding. of the brothers and sisters who are innkeepers to share and encourage union members, workers, employees and their families who cannot afford to return home to celebrate Tet.

At the same time, creating conditions for workers to celebrate Tet with familiar people in the boarding house where they live and have been close during the past time, partly enjoying the atmosphere of reunion with relatives when spring comes.

“This year, the city organized the program “Happy Tet with boarding house workers” at 3 boarding houses in Tan Phu district, Tan Binh district and Thu Duc city. The program had 91 families of workers staying. The city participated, including 60 children. In addition to organizing an intimate family meal, the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labor also provided workers’ families with gifts worth 1 million VND (including 700,000 VND). cash and gifts worth 300,000 VND,” Mr. Quang said.

According to records, at the first location where the program was held, there were 6 banquet tables prepared with many traditional Tet dishes such as banh tet, braised meat with eggs, pickled onions, bitter melon soup… 25 prices. The workers here were excited and happily congratulated each other, looking forward to a prosperous new year.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Huyen (from Nghe An), a worker of Nhat Long Production, Trading and Services Co., Ltd., representing 25 worker households, sent his sincere thanks to the trade union for always caring, sharing, and accompanying. with workers.

Mr. Huyen said that in 2023, the economic situation faced many difficulties, greatly affecting businesses and thereby also affecting the lives of union members and workers. His family is no exception. Because of difficulties, even though Tet came in spring, his family might not return to his hometown to reunite with his family, making his homesickness in the early days of spring even more intense.

“We workers and workers all wish to have a warm and happy reunion with our families in our hometown to celebrate the traditional Tet. However, in the past year, the situation of production activities has changed. The unit’s business has decreased, orders are few, working hours are reduced… which partly affects the decision of my family as well as many other families present here,” Mr. Huyen said.

However, with the attention of the City Labor Federation, Mr. Huyen said, the families of workers far from home really feel moved and happy. It is also a great encouragement and spiritual comfort for families of workers in difficult circumstances who have to celebrate Tet away from home.
