Friedberg/Bad Nauheim (pm). The Regenbogenchor from Bad Nauheim invites you to a summer concert on Saturday, September 21st at 7 p.m. in the old indoor swimming pool in Friedberg. The song “Come fly with me”, known in the version by Frank Sinatra, will not only be performed in a lively choral setting, but will also be the motto of the concert. On a musical journey around the world, the choir will show its wide-ranging repertoire in a variety of languages and styles.

Across borders

It is the first major concert under the direction of Bettina Wißner, who has been leading the rehearsals for over nine months. The choir is pregnant with new ideas, and it will be exciting to see what kind of “baby” is created.

The 15 singers who came together in Bad Nauheim in the summer of 1986 had set themselves similar goals. They wanted to lend their voices to a choir that would not remain stuck in traditional German songs, but would create a bridge that would unite peoples without linguistic or cultural barriers. The name Regenbogenchor was therefore a natural choice.

From the beginning, continuous work has developed into an ambitious amateur choir with today a good 40 members from all over the Wetterau region; a community in which the enthusiasm for achieving the set goals is reflected in intensive regular rehearsals, supplemented by additional rehearsal weekends. Musically, the range extends from pieces from the Renaissance and Romantic periods to gospels, spirituals and musicals, as well as modern pieces on the one hand and popular music on the other. Motets and Advent music are just as much a part of this as sacred works.

Presenting this colorful diversity to the audience as a rainbow choir is just as much fun for the singers as it is inspiring listeners with other choirs, schools, orchestras or soloists. Just as in the creation of a rainbow, different factors have to fit together in music so that words and sounds form a magnificent sound, like water and light form a rainbow.

Tickets are available at the Rühs bookstore in Bad Nauheim and at the Friedberg ticket shop.
