April 2011. A couple and their children aged 13 to 21 had not given any signs of life for several days when the prosecution opened an investigation into a worrying disappearance.

Then the horror appears before the eyes of the investigators who find, wrapped in sheets and covered in lime, the bodies of Benoît, Anne, Thomas, Arthur and Agnès, shot with at least two bullets each in the head.

The autopsies will reveal that they were victims of a “methodical execution”, in the words of the Nantes public prosecutor at the time, Xavier Ronsin.

It was in the Var that “XDDL” was last seen on April 15, 2011, walking away from the Formula 1 in Roquebrune-sur-Argens on foot with a bag on his back.

“Considerable legal resources were deployed and nothing was neglected as far as possible since obviously not every square centimeter of land could be studied in the mountains, caves and nooks and crannies close to” the hotel, explains Mr. Ronsin.

Since then, nothing. Did he commit suicide? Has he started a run that has lasted ten years now? These questions remain unanswered and have triggered a fascination with the affair, which goes beyond the borders of France.

Reports continue to rain in from all corners of the world. Whether in San Francisco, Thailand or in the stands of Italy-Spain at the Euro, the face of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès has already been seen almost everywhere.

Why does the Xavier De Ligonnès affair fascinate the whole world so much? “We have all the ingredients of good fiction”

This time, it was on a TGV that he was seen, between Paris and Quimper. The least we can say is that the resemblance is quite striking in this video filmed by Théo Macel, a journalist known in particular for having been editor-in-chief of the program “Touche pas à mon poste”.

The latter seems very intrigued and activates the camera of his smartphone in the TGV, intrigued by the man in front of him. Théo Macel then asks this man if he had ever been told that he looked like Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. “I don’t know him,” the man initially replies, before adding: “Ah yes, he killed his children, his wife and he left, yeah. He went on the run yeah”.

The conversation continues and the man then comes out with the following rather intriguing sentence: “Nothing sticks to me anymore”, before laughing rudely.

Théo Macel questions the man as if he were dealing with the most wanted man in France by asking him where he went on the run. “You made the United States,” he asks. The man then replies that “no”, he stayed in the west of France, concluding with a “sucks eh” and a second laugh.
