A video circulated of Mohammed bin Salman at the 2007 ceremony and what he pledged to King Salman (the Prince of Riyadh at the time)

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated an archival video clip of the Saudi Crown Prince, who they said dates back to 2007 during a graduation ceremony in the presence of King Salman bin Abdulaziz (who was the Prince of Riyadh at the time).

In the circulating video, Mohammed bin Salman said: “It is a great honor to present on behalf of my colleagues at this prestigious university. Our ceremony is the culmination of years of hard work, struggle, giving and giving in the pursuit of knowledge. With science, nations are built, and with science societies thrive.”

He continued, “How beautiful it is, sir (Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz) that we celebrate today honoring science and its people, represented by the young hands of our dear countrymen who were keen to make the most of what was made available to them of useful sciences to strive for the prosperity and elevation of the nation.”

He added: “Sir, these graduates are a real wealth for the nation that preserves its gains and nurtures its interests. With God Almighty’s help, they have followed the path of goodness, giving, giving and development. They are the nation’s bond and protectors in a time of many changes. We are commanded at all times and places and under any circumstance.”
