The Nothing Phone (2a) seems to be heading towards an entry-level configuration with a simplified design. He still keeps the Glyph.
Nothing definitely doesn’t do anything like everyone else (yes, it’s very funny). After a first smartphone, the Phone (1), launched around 500 euros, then a very clear move upmarket on the Nothing Phone (2), a new much cheaper smartphone could soon arrive, the Nothing Phone (2a) .
For several weeks, rumors in the corridors have been pointing in this direction, but we had nothing concrete to put our teeth into. Here, developer Dylan Roussel, a reliable source for all things Android, reveals the first images of the future phone.
A probably plastic back, but still glyphs
In this 30-second video, which reveals the design of the smartphone in the form of flat areas and gray tiles, we discover a phone with a look that contrasts with its predecessors. If the Nothing Phone (1) and (2) resembled the iPhone in certain respects, here we find an inspiration closer to Chinese manufacturers, with the central round-shaped photo block.

Under this photo block, we can see what appears to be a rounded shape somewhat reminiscent of the LEDs on the back of the Nothing Phone (1) and (2). Around the block, there are three strips of white LEDs of distinct sizes. The one located at the top left appears to be able to indicate the sound volume of the phone, a feature already present on the Nothing Phone (2).
Still to mark a bridge with previous models, certain sounds and ringtones seem to be able to light up the three back LEDs in a light pattern synchronized with the sound. A feature which has a small effect on a high-end smartphone, but which could be even more striking at the entry level, where the design is generally uninspired.
The developer takes the opportunity to unveil the phone’s probable chip, a Dimensity 7200, a chip which seems of a caliber close to a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. He also mentions a launch around the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, which will be held from February 26 to 29, 2024.
